Could you survive a data disaster?

For a long time tape drives have been the de facto standard for backing up data, but that’s not to say they don’t come without problems. A successful tape backup scheme needs the tapes to be regularly changed and taken off site but this can often lead to the fragile tapes being mishandled, not something you want to happen to one of your businesses most vital assets! Over the years we’ve become accustomed to running a regular ‘fire drill’ on tapes, just to make sure we can get a good restore should disaster strike. After all, a backup is no use at all if it can’t be restored!

With our Datasafe Online Backup service all those problems are in the past!

Local Storage Device

Copies of Copies of Copies…

In addition to uploading your data to our online servers, we’re also able to provide a high speed USB or NAS local backup device. These units give you the ability to do high speed, bare metal recovery in the event of a disaster. For every 1GB of customer data we store, we provision 4GB of space in our data centre. Our primary backup servers use RAID1 Hard Disk Mirroring for resilience against drive failure. The primary server is replicated over a gigabit ethernet link to a secondary backup server which also contains a resilient RAID1 mirror. That means that every file you backup to Datasafe is stored four times across our servers.

Security, Encryption & Privacy

Features

We take encryption and security very seriously; our customers trust us to securely store their data so taking good care of it is of paramount importance.

Each backup set stored on our servers is encrypted using a state-of-the-art 256bit AES cypher, initialised with a unique key generated by our in-house password generator. Data is encrypted before it leaves your network and all communication with our servers is protected by SSL.

Customers have the option to specify a private encryption key to ensure that a third party (including our engineers) cannot decrypt their data.
